The Califa Digital Resources Steering Committee consists of representatives from member libraries who want to take a leadership role in advising Califa on which vendors they negotiate contracts with. While the Committee focuses on Califa’s new offerings in the realm of digital and physical resources, there is a strong emphasis on eBooks. Many of the member libraries have been selecting eBooks from multiple vendors for a number of years and have been early adopters of the eBook and downloadable audio eBook formats. The Committee looks at emerging trends in the eBook industry and continuously evaluates all issues associated with content delivery in multiple digital formats.
Califa sets up vendor trials for its members and negotiates with the vendor to offer the best possible discount for its members. Shared collections are managed by Califa and ongoing collection development is distributed between participating members.
Meetings of the Digital Resources Steering Committee are held quarterly, usually on the first Wednesday of the meeting month.
