| ICOLC Tours - Wednesday afternoon, April 16 Join us for one of the ICOLC tours of the following exceptional locations on the last day of the ICOLC meeting. You can sign up via the conference registration site. The tours are given at the same time on Wednesday afternoon, so you'll have to make a choice. UC Berkeley Library tour Hosted by Beverlee French, ex-ICOLCer Join us for a customized tour of some remarkable 21st century UC Berkeley library facilities, including the recently dedicated C. V. Starr East Asian Library, hosted by Berkeley's University Librarian and Professor of Journalism Tom Leonard. The tour group will leave the Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf at 1:30 PM escorted by Beverlee French, on San Francisco's Muni and Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), and arrive in Berkeley in time for a 3:00 PM tour. Information on Berkeley restaurants near the campus will be provided. Tour ends at 5pm. Internet Archive tour The Internet Archive is a non-profit that was founded to build an Internet library, with the purpose of offering permanent access for researchers, historians, and scholars to historical collections that exist in digital format. Founded in 1996 and located in the Presidio of San Francisco, the Archive has been receiving data donations from Alexa Internet and others. In late 1999, the organization started to grow to include more well-rounded collections. Now the Internet Archive includes texts, audio, moving images, and software as well as archived web pages in our collections. Internet Archive Digital Librarian, Director, and Co-founder Brewster Kahle will meet with ICOLC attendees and discuss consortial issues such as developing shared scanning centers. The tour will start at 2:30PM and last approximately 90 minutes. We will try to coordinate transportation to and from the Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf. The tour group will leave for the Internet Archive at approximately 2PM. |

| Baseball Game - Monday, April 14 Join us for a Major League Baseball game on Monday evening! The Arizona Diamondbacks are in town taking on the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park, one of the great new ballparks. The ballgame begins at 7:15 PM and should last approximately 3 hours. The cost of the game should be approximately $12 plus any food and beverages. We will coordinate transportation to and from the Sheraton Fisherman’s Wharf. SCELC will purchase the tickets before the conference, since AT&T Park tends to sell out. This event is subject to ticket availability. You can sign up for the game on the registration page. If you have already registered, and want to sign up for the game, send your request to Steven Morris and payment must be made to SCELC directly. Public transit to AT&T Park:
Go to S.W. corner Of Beach Street & Mason Street. Board SF Muni F Line/Castro. Pay fare of $1.50 and get S.F. Muni Transfer. Get off at the Embarcadero Station at Market Street and Main Street. Enter station (underground) and take any SF MUNI train going towards MISSION BAY or CALTRAIN to the Park. You can't miss it. At one point the train will resurface and travel above ground. For those that choose to walk from the F train stop, they can exit the F-Train at the Ferry Plaze, then walk South along the Embarcadero towards the Bay Bridge for 1.3 miles to stadium.
It is a good idea to buy your return fare from one of the tables outside the park before entering the stadium. | |||||
