This is a contract opportunity scheduled for approximately 40 hours weekly that expires in December of 2023. It is open to all qualified applicants. Resumes, cover letters and references will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis until selection and may be filled at any time.
Professionals with initiative, creativity, and an understanding of communication, XR technology, webinar programming, career coaching, career information, SaaS database systems and strong project management, will work both independently and collaboratively. Collaborators include the SANDI Project Director and the Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development ‘s (GOED) Director of Strategic Programs, Nevada academic libraries, public libraries, community college faculty, industry, SANDI’s key contractors and service providers.

The Opportunity and Mission:

The SANDI grant specifically addresses training and upskilling for Nevada’s resilient STEM industries, such as healthcare, information technology, logistics, and more, leveraged through technology. These computerized, web-accessible resources create a bridge between the library and classroom/training environments by providing adult learners and CTE students with current and informative research and/or resources that address curriculum core content and framework strands. These are subject-oriented and content specific. This provides lesson planning, helps instructors explore resources available from the library and expands classroom/training activities. The position will be contracted to implement and ensure improving teaching and learning in the classroom, online and blended learning environments through knowledge transfer into XR environments. This position will work on the four additional instructional programs identified through Project SANDI, and completion of the dialysis technician program of study at the College of Southern Nevada as well as XR and data enhancements to career exploration and navigation.

This role will focus on collaborating with and guiding faculty and key partners to enhance pedagogy and curricula. The role integrates XR technologies by incorporating instructional design methodology into their curriculum by way of redesigning course materials, activities, and assessments to improve overall learning outcomes and enhance the student experience.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Research and preparation for topics for the SANDI specified courses.
  • Communication, support and close collaboration with diverse group of ‘guarantors’ and subject matter experts (SMEs) to include textbook publishers, instructors, professionals in the field, industry partners to coordinate the development of instructional XR assets, images, quizzes, tests, simulations and other learning objects.
  • Supports excellence by using adult learning theory, assessment, and other educational principles to guide the development of SANDI specified course content, assessment and learning activities. Can combine didactic instruction with active learning experiences and skills training in the clinical and or laboratory setting.
  • Develop for healthcare programs of instructions simulation activities utilizing current best practice and conforming to the International Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Standards.
  • Serves on and/or coordinates the activities of committees, councils and associations related to Project SANDI.
  • Establish and monitor project goals, objectives, performance indicators and evaluation mechanisms.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a closely related discipline is required and five years professional experience OR a Master’s degree in Education, Nurse Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Library and Information Sciences and two years professional experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive experience with instruction in a system of higher education and be well versed in community college accreditation; industry licensure and certification within Nevada’s resilient sectors as defined through Project SANDI.

Demonstrated understanding of healthcare clinical simulation, fluency with International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) standards and a proven ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and understandable manner. Experience with didactic instruction utilizing Canvas and the Big Blue Button feature is highly desirable as well as understanding of the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) patient care technician course materials currently in progress and to be completed with the College of Southern Nevada’s allied health department is a plus. They will demonstrate intimate familiarity with competencies of various teaching and learning styles and knowledge of educational technology. Califa seeks a skilled and experienced professional capable of managing multiple complex programs and ability to improve project performance and develop workforce capabilities through leadership, team building, problem solving, and innovation.

Compensation:

The salary range for the Project SANDI contractor is up to $50.00 per hour for this approximately 40 hours weekly position. 

Licenses, Tools and Equipment:

Must have access to and use of own office equipment which must include computers and word processing spreadsheet and presentation software. And access to a telephone, printer/scanner, calculator, etc. Must have access to and use of own transportation and current driver’s license.
