Research Institute for Public Libraries

Grant Summary

The Research Institute of Public Libraries (RIPL) aims to create a culture shift in public libraries in which library staff become confident and purposeful in collecting, analyzing, and using data for decision making, strategic planning, and demonstrating impact. Launched in 2015 by the Colorado State Library and the Colorado Library Consortium and now under the fiscal sponsorship of Califa Group, this national initiative is driven by our commitment to support public libraries in using data to better serve all members of their communities. During our immersive, bootcamp-style learning events, library staff and other stakeholders gain skills to track the use of libraries and the outcomes of this use in order to 1) strategically allocate limited resources, 2) continue to provide relevant services to their communities, and 3) justify future budget requests to stakeholders.
