Stay & Play: Opportunity for California Public Libraries

Applications are open for libraries to join Stay & Play, a project that supports outreach and programming for informal caregivers and the children in their care.

About

Stay & Play is a library service model that positions libraries to support and engage informal caregivers and the children in their care. Stay & Play includes programming designed specifically for informal caregivers, helping them learn, develop relationships, and build connections to their library and community resources.

The Opportunity

California public library teams are invited to apply to join existing Stay & play libraries for an exciting opportunity to enhance their knowledge, join and grow a community of practice, and build programs for informal caregivers and the children in their care.

Participating libraries will receive $4,500 in funding towards their program expenses and take part in substantial relevant professional development.

What's Involved

A team of 2-3 library staff from each participating library must commit to:

  • Attend professional development trainings: October 2023 to February 2024
  • Plan and develop your Stay & Play program; outreach to informal caregivers: January 2024 to February 2024
  • Hold two, 6-8 week Stay & Play program series; measure program outcomes: February 2024 to May 2024
  • Participate in Stay & Play community of practice discussions: October 2023 to July 2024
